Fine lime: ZTE Blade S7 Android phone spec and pics reveal its ZUK Z1 looks

Details of the TE Blade S7 phone have been released and the handset looks a lot like the Lenovo ZUK Z1 phone, down to the rectangular home button.

In this button is a fingerprint scanner for security – see below for full specs.

The Blade S7 has a narrow bezel and a 2.5D curved glass front for the 5-inch FHD display at 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The phone has a 13MP rear camera and a front-facing camera also at 13MP, complete with flash.

It runs on an octacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage (expandable to 128GB via microSD).

It ships with Android 5.1.1 skinned with ZTE’s Nubia, which packs in professional camera shooting modes to make the most of the high-MP cameras.

The Blade S7 is listed at the pre-order price of $279.99.

Sony smartphone cameras might get even better if it buys Toshiba’s sensor division

While Sony smartphones aren’t the best-selling (let’s see if the new ad campaign with James Bond changes that) but their camera sensor components are a sign of quality in a smartphone and are used by the likes of Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi and Motorola.

Riding high on the success of their Exmor sensors, Sony looks set to buy Toshiba’s image sensor division to not only cut out a competitor but also increase the research and development team that earned them their sterling name in the field.

Unnamed sources claim the deal is close to being sealed for a 20 billion yen (US$165m) acquisition, which also bundles in Toshiba’s plant.

Chinese Tablets? Next!

Chinese Tablets? Next!

DigiTimes — a sketchy source that is absolutely correct this time, though very late to catch on: Some China white-box tablet vendors shifting to other product lines.
I had a post in the works that I never published. Its title was: America Doesn’t Need Tablets From China Brands. We Have Amazon For That Shit.
So I note with some glee this passage in the DigiTimes piece:
Since brand vendors such as Amazon have been launching inexpensive tablet products to compete for market share, many white-box and small tablet brand vendors have forced out of the market.
The Kindle ate the Sony Reader.
Now the Kindle Fire line of shit — and that’s what it is, have you seen them in person yet? does Bezos have no shame? — is eating China-branded tablets.
There’s only one tablet left due to be released in China that I’m even mildly interested in: The Xiaomi MiPad 2.
No other company is producing anything that interests me any longer.
So, you lot out there better start reading more of TECHTablets.
And for that one asshole who whined about my saying Chuwi, etc, are electronics— not tablet — companies, go bite yourself. On. Your. Dick.

SwiftKey 6 update introduces double-word prediction to the popular keyboard

The SwiftKey swipe-type is a Marmite add-on – some people swear by it, others just can’t get on with it.

The new SwiftKey 6 for Android has hit the Google Play score in beta and now tries to up productivity with double-word text prediction. This considers what you’ve written before and now goes for the double.

It’s not been too long since SwiftKey debuted on iOS after being an Android staple for years. The iOS port hasn’t quite hit the point of productivity it has a reputation for on Android, with sluggish response speeds and sometimes not showing up on time, with a few seconds’ delay in some apps.

Hopefully when this update hits iOS it will bring with it a more reliable build.

Elsewhere on SwiftKey 6 there is an improved Emoji panel, revamped menus, a new Carbon Light theme to fit in with the latest Google look.

REVIEW: MIXCDER SHAREME 7 AND DRIP BLUETOOTH WIRELESS HEADPHONES

I listen to music in my iPhone everyday, yes, every single day without a break. Dining alone I will plug my Bose FreeStyle™ earbuds for convenience but while I am on my way to somewhere, I will prefer using my JayBird BlueBuds X to reduce wire clutter near my body especially in crowded areas and transportations.
So what about at home? Well, I usually switch on my SoundBlock Bluetooth Speaker but at the same time I often received complains from my family members for the noise created. I would really love having a pair of good on-ear Bluetooth Wireless headphones that I can put it up, enjoy my personal music time without disturbing the others.
Mixcder ShareMe 7 01
I can always easily pick up a pair of really good on-ear Bluetooth headphones like those from Beats, Plantronics, etc from the Apple Store or other electronics retailers. But I just couldn’t walk out from the store without spending hundreds bucks on the one that really comfort my picky ears. Until the day I received a few pairs of headphones from Mixcder and that really changed my life and completed my collection.
Unboxing
We are honored to have received both flagship products from Mixcder – the Mixcder ShareMe 7 Wireless Bluetooth 4.1 Headphones (White+Blue at the left and Black at the right) and Drip Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 + EDR Headphones in the middle)
DSC01766
The neat packaging comes with the big headphone securely sitting in the box, a 3.5mm Stereo Cable, a standard micro-USB charging cable and a user manual underneath. Not much surprise but it’s simple and straightforward.

Design and Build Quality
Honestly speaking, the design and the build quality are not something you should expect from on-ear headphones over $300.  For a budget headphone under $40, it is not reasonable to expect the product to be built with premium quality materials and fashionable appearance. Most part of the body is made of plastic, including the casing, the button, etc. It looks and feels like a toy indeed. I haven’t been using it more than 2 weeks so I cannot tell how durable it can be, but definitely I will treasure it and use it with care.
However, notably speaking, the soft earmuffs and artificial protein leather make the headphone really comfortable to wear. In my opinion it is not that far from a premium headphone can offer you with.
Bonus goes to the extendability and foldability. If you don’t have a carrying case, you can still fold the headphone up and throw it into your bag with minimal space required.
Performance
The ShareMe 7 comes with well-balanced sound quality. The bass is just about right. Excellent stereo output can be expected at the same level from a wired headphone. I have tried out listening to various types of music on my iPhone including Pop, Rock, Alternative, Country, and many different songs. All are great that you don’t really have to turn on any equalization effect unless you have special preference towards music. Otherwise, let the drums do the job.
On another hand, the Drip headphone offers a stronger and solid bass output. It is impressive. But it is just not my personal favorite to have fat bass so I have to turn on specific equalization to balance that out. Not too much, but good enough to let me go on with this comfortable headphone.
It’s worth mentioning that connecting both headphones to Mac, iPhones and Android devices (tested on HTC E9+) via Bluetooth and there had no issue with the connection as well as volume and pause/play controls which is really nice that the headphone is born to be compatible with all kinds of devices. The connection is fast without a slight lag when music starts playing. The performance has been very stable even with a little bit far distance from the device. But if you really care about a “hair-difference” of stability, you can still connect the headphone to a device with a 3.5mm stereo cable.
The noise cancellation is well-done and competitive to other premium headphones. I am not a pro to judge how well it performs technically but as far as I can test in noisy environment such as the underground trains at peak hours, I really could not notice any major disturbance from people or PA announcement inside the cabin.
Conclusion
The Mixcder ShareMe 7 and Drip are definitely a steal for on-ear Bluetooth headphones that are both comfortable to wear. Despite the fact that Drip is not my personal love towards the stronger bass, the sound quality is still very good. Both headphones have good battery life too. So if you are looking for a pair of budgeted on-ear wireless headphone, both ShareMe 7 and Drip should be surely on your short-list.

Highly recommended, 5/5 stars HV-600 Headset

With all of the different styles of headphones, sometimes it might be hard to find one that is both comfortable and stable especially while working out. I prefer this type of style, with a neckband that goes behind your ears. It doesn't fall out when moving around and the in-ear earbuds are comfortable to wear for extended periods. The sound quality is on par for a set at this price point; clear and loud enough for both music and taking phone calls. No issues with pairing at all and battery life is average at around 4-5 hours.

Highly recommended, 5/5 stars.

This product was provided for my honest and unbiased review.

Libratone has revealed the new Zipp and Zipp Mini wireless speakers, both of which slim down and smarten up compared to the previous models.

The Zipp Mini’s main aim is portability and replacement covers that are zipped on are available for both in a wide range of colours, perfect for matching up with different rooms.
The Zipp Mini is a 60W unit, while the regular Zipp gives out 100W.

Playback can be controlled through the new touch-sensitive controls which offer haptic feedback and they again carry Libratone’s 360 FullRoom Sound tech to make sure they fill the corners.

Both speakers launch October 22 on the Libratone website; the Zipp will cost £220 (US$340), while the Zipp Mini is a little less at £180 ($278).
