Whenever you’re waiting for a new device to drop, it’s always a good sign when it hits the FCC. If you’ve been drooling over the prospect of the HTC Nexus 9, the wait is coming to an end as the slate just stopped by the FCC.
It’s all but a given that we’re going to see a couple of new Nexus device roll out this year, and they “should” be announced at the same time. We’ve seen numerous leaks on the Nexus 6 and HTC Nexus 9, but the latter is the first to pass through the FCC. While the filing doesn’t say “Nexus 9” it is a tablet with the model number HTC 0P82100, and that same device hit the RAA a little while back. Unless HTC has been working on a different slate, it’s safe to say it’s the HTC Nexus 9.
FCC filings don’t give you a lot of information with the specs, but we’ve seen the HTC Nexus 9 specs leak countless times this year. If they hold up, the Nexus 9 will be an 8.9-inch tablet with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440. It will rock a 64-bit Tegra K1, 16MP camera, and have 3GB of RAM to go along with Android L. TheFCC filing did tell us it will apparently have two variants as well with a 16GB and 32GB model.
There’s been a lot of debate about the Nexus 6 size, but nobody’s going to gripe much about a tablet that’s a little bigger than last year’s model (thinner bezels) with a QHD display and top-tier specs. That said, the pricing could be a major factor as the Nexus line has always given consumers a deal, and the rumored specs may raise the price.
How much would you be willing to pay for the Nexus 9?
