Nook Glowlight Plus: ZeroLab Nooter
The directions are in Russian.
It’s unclear if this roots the Nook or simply installs a one-click (well, one-command) package of goodies that don’t require root.
All the same, it’s some progress. Things have been stalled for weeks.
It’s from the same Russian who gave us the YouTube video in the previous post.
Unrelated but related: Barnes & Noble has finally posted instructions about using eBooks from public libraries. This bit is, um, interesting:
NOTE: Your NOOK GlowLight Plus has built-in support for Adobe DRM. It does not need to and will not be recognized by Adobe® Digital Editions or 3M™ Cloud Library desktop softwares.
“Softwares.” Cue the facepalm.
I’ve noticed B&N is playing footsie with the price of the new Nook. Black Friday sale at US$99. Then post-sale price of US$119. Now it’s US$129 again.
Given how the entire Nook division is in its death wheezes, I’d expect another pre-holiday US$99 sale. At that price, I recommend everyone go pick one up to hack on for an emergency tablet. I damn well wish I had a “tabletzied” Nook Simple Touch — and a solar-powered charger — in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy!
