Following Samsung’s teaser at IFA 2015, info on their new big-form tablet has slowly trickled out amid much speculation.
Now the Samsung Galaxy View tablet has been officially announce, complete with full specs.
The tablet has an 18.4-inch, Full HD display and is designed to provide “mobile entertainment” – though with a screen bigger than the average laptop, we’d hope it doubles as a good workstation, too.
The tablet runs Android 5.1 on an octacore Exynos 7580 processor clocked at 1.6GHz and with 2GB of RAM.
Undermining the portable entertainment tag slightly is the 1.65kg weight – it won’t be an everyday carry item but occasional trips won’t be back-breakers.
To help this situation, it comes with a handy carry handle.
It will ship with 64GB standard storage, which can be bulked up via microSD, and it supports Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11ac and 4G LTE connectivity with dual SIM.
The handle is part of the kickstand, which makes it easy for watching or working, and it features 4-watt stereo speakers.
Everything is powered by a 5,700mAh battery that gives 8 hours of life, and it will launch at US$599.
