Public iOS 9.2 Beta 2 Released For Testers With AT&T NumberSync Support

Apple after releasing second iOS 9.2 beta to developers yesterday has today made iOS 9.2 beta 2available to download for those enrolled in Apple Public Beta program. In addition to iOS 9.2 developer program, Apple also issued beta 2 version of OS X 10.11.2, first beta of tvOS 9.1 and a beta version of Xcode – integrated development environment particularly used to develop software for iOS, OS X, tvOS, and watchOS.

Beta testers who have already signed up for Apple’s testing program will receive the second beta of iOS 9.2 software via OTA. Registered on the iOS beta testing program will now be able to explore and take advantage of the AT&T’s NumberSync service. With iOS 9.2 beta, NumberSync providers users shows “with the freedom and convenience of using your wireless number in multiple, compatible devices”. The service lets you make and receive phone calls using your own number from a device such as an iPad or Mac computer without being connected directly to the phone.
The functionality which AT&T’s NumberSync is pretty similar to what Continuity feature does, that actually allows phone calls to be answered on devices other than an iPhone. Currently offers Mac, iPad, and iPod touch owners are able to make and receive telephone calls via Apple’s Continuity feature as long as said device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network and that holds the number. Essentially, the NumberSync offering serves up the same pattern of functionality, but nevertheless doesn’t require the device to be connected to the same wireless server as the iPhone. Basically, WiFi calling via your AT&T account.

The latest also includes options to reload content and request a desktop site, as in Safari, and iOS 9.2 beta 2 improves Safari View Controller and the update is served up as an over-the-air download, which is accessibe directly from the Software Update mechanism with the native Settings.app (Settings >> General >> Software Update).
The new beta version of iOS 9.2 offering from Apple is available right now to all of those public beta testers who are currently running a pre-release version of iOS. 9.2 beta 2 update includes bug fixes for iCloud Keychain, Apple Watch syncing and pairing, audio quality when streaming to stereo systems, and more, like support for dismissing it with an edge swipe.
