Elephone have sent over their most luxurious phone to date for us to review. Keep reading to watch the Elephone M2 unboxing and hands on video. This past 12 months has seen phone maker design and develop phones that are more about looks and style than pure horsepower. Examples include the Oppo R7, Xiaomi Mi Note, OnePlus X, etc but it isn’t only the large brands that are making phones like this, Bluboo, Cubot, and even Elephone offer phones with a focus on design over hardware.
A few weeks ago we reviewed the Elephone M1, the most affordable phone of the current ‘M’ series, and now we have the chance to review the more upmarket model, the Elephone M2.
Right out of the box you can see the difference in build quality between the Elephone M1 and Elephone M1. It is obvious that the slightly more expensive M2 is made to higher tolerances, not only can you see the difference but you can feel it too.
The Elephone M2 is made of a single chunk of alloy. The CNC machined body feels much sturdier than the M1, the body is firm and solid in the hand and all components fit amazingly well. This is probably the best made Elephone to date.
Standout features on the Elephone M2 include the 5.5-inch FHD 1920 x 1080 display, it looks really clear and is a very responsive panel, fingerprint scanner, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, 2600mAh battery, and the overall build quality.
Details that don’t quite make the mark so far are the dual external speakers, they sound cheap in comparison to the high-quality look of the device, the slightly inaccurate fingerprint scanner, and the slow camera focus speed.
Still the Elephone M2 isn’t an expensive phone, the standard RRP is $199.99, but we don’t imagine many people will spend that much as every Wednesday the phone can be purchased at only $149.99, and for that price the M2 is a solid phone.
Keep posted for our full Elephone M2 review coming next week.
