Elephone 4k action cam
Following up on yesterdays teaser image, we have today received two further images, this time showing more details for for the Elephone 4k action cam record.
The Elephone 4k action cam features are as follows 4K at 15 frames per second, 1080p full HD at 60 frames per second, 720 HD video at 120 frames per second and a 170 degree wide angled lens, which like many other action cameras on the market will allow you to capture almost your entire field of view (make sure your wearing nice shoes as they may well end up in the shot).
There is some confusion over the sensor, most sites are reporting that the action camera features a 16 mega pixel OV4689 sensor, however reading up on the OV4689 reveals that it is a 4 mega pixel sensor rather than the widely stated 16 mega pixel.
The same sensor has been put to use in other action cams such as the Soodoo F60, where it does achieve 4K at 15 frames per second, it would appear that the 4K resolution is probably achieved via interpolation rather than being a native resolution.
Onboard the Elephone 4k action cam is an Allwinner V3 chipset ARM Cortex A7 processor @ 1.2GHz which is pretty much the go to chip for China based action cams.
The Elephone 4k action cam also features built in WIFI, giving you the option to operate it via an Android or IOS device, as yet software has not been shown.
Storage is as yet unknown however micro SD card support up to 64gb would be expected, with possible support for 128gb.
Hopefully the quality of the video produced will be on par with the market leaders at Gopro, but until we get hands on we will have to wait and see.
As usual any questions or comments can be left below.
