Samsung Galaxy Phone A8 Gets A Review
Over at PC Online, of an engineering sample [use Chrome browser to translate].
This is rather frustrating. This is a phone I would buy, but it seems to be Asia-only (for now?).
Gorgeous:
It has 2GBs of RAM paired with a Snapdragon 615 CPU and gets this AnTuTu score:
Which is within the range of the identically-specced Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3:
The A8 might be scoring a wee bit lower due to it being an engineering sample with non-final software.
Despite having a 16-megapixel camera, the photo samples aren’t impressive. I won’t embed them here due to size, but they can seen at full resolution here andhere. Overall, they both have a flatness to them that’s disappointing.
PC Online says its 3050 mAh (non-removable) battery won’t satisfy power users and they should carry a power bank for on-the-road recharging. That’s another disappointment. That full-HD screen eats power.
The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 is US$249. There’s yet no price for the Samsung Galaxy Phone A8. Phone Arena speculates it’ll be a whopping US$500. That would be a big fat No from me.
