The must-have gadget in North Korea, the Chinese-made Notel PMP, is a nostalgic look back at the tech development.

The portable media player was once a black market device but has now been legalized and can be bought in state-run shops.

It’s reported that they are used for watching banned overseas content shared via physical storage such as USBs and SD cards, both of which work in the media player.

North Korea’s electricity supply is notoriously awful so it’s handy that the Notel can be charged from a car battery.
