Hulu has introduced a new Hulu Plus app for iPhone, offering a more focused and simple way to watch Hulu shows, clips and movies on the go. When users open the new app they will now see three new panels at the top level: Home, Shows You Watch and an updated Navigation Panel.
Home represents the best content of the day on Hulu, handpicked and curated by the company's editorial team. The second panel, Shows You Watch, displays shows the user likes to watch and tailors shows displayed based on the user's personalised viewing habits. The updated Navigation Panel provides an easy way to scroll through and discover content on the full Hulu content catalogue. To access Shows You Watch and Navigation Panel, users can swipe left and right, respectively anywhere from in the app.
Hulu has also integrated a new Action Tray feature into the app. The Action Tray provides quick access to search, queue and cast to TV from anywhere in the app.
In addition, Hulu has redesigned search with contextually grouped results by category. Users can access all their saved videos in queue right from the action tray, and whenever they add new content, another "heartbeat" will be added to the queue. For users who want to cast shows from their iPhone to the TV using Chromecast, PS3, PS4 or Xbox One, they can find the feature in the Action Tray.
Hulu has also redesigned the app with cleaner controls including the ten second rewind and the ability to scrub easily. Hulu has also nested over rich functionality on the player such as captions, share and cast to TV within the extended menu in the player. In addition, each show page opens up with a larger image that displays show details and synopsis followed by direct access to the latest episode of the show. The new app also incorporates tabs to make it easy to find episodes and clips.
