The Russian YotaPhone Siam 7X smartphone boasts a dual display system, pairing up an LCD screen with an E-ink display.
As well as two screens, another selling point is the fairly novel earprint recognition, which will only allow calls to be made by ears it’s seen before.
This is a strange choice (maybe minutes are most coveted in Russia) but the technology is interesting. It uses Descartes Biometrix Helix system, which uses the selfie cam to check out lobes.
The phone runs on a 1.3GHz MediaTek octacore processor and a 2,100mAh battery.
It has a 16MP rear cam and an 8MP front-facer for ear verification.
The phones’s main display is a 5-inch, 1280 x 720-pixel screen with Gorilla Glass, while the E-ink reader is a 5.7-inch screen.
This phone is a niche idea and as such nobody’s taking a punt on it outright and have taken to Kickstarter instead to gauge its desirability.
The asking price is $470, with a $420 early bird offer.
