If there’s a development in resolution and screens, these days it’s most likely come from the hard-working Japan Display company, whose latest achievement is an impressive 17.3-inch display with a resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels, giving 510 pixels per inch.
Japan Displays has called this their 8K4K display and if it can be produced at a relatively marketable price, this could be the kind of thing we’ll be seeing in the next big leap of laptops, tablets and monitors.
The LCD display uses low temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) and has a 120Hz refresh rate, along with a 176-degree viewing angle.
Don’t toss out those 4K displays just yet though, we need to wait for the content providers to catch up to that first, then we can think ahead to beyond.
