Dubbed Huawei Ascend G660, the new mobile phone will be released in China with the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top, while also featuring Huawei’s own Emotion UI 2.0 Lite user interface.
As a recent post on Blog Of Mobile reads, the new smartphone will feature support for WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, TD-LTE, and GSM networks when made available for purchase, which suggests that it could become available in other markets out there as well.
One way or the other, the mobile phone does not offer many features that make it stand out in the crowd. In fact, it can be seen as an entry-level phone that can offer some enhanced capabilities.
Huawei’s new Ascend G660 was announced with a 5-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display capable of delivering an HD resolution, as well as with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor.
Considering the fact that the Chinese vendor is usually packing its own processors inside new devices, some might consider it odd that the new phone sports a Qualcomm CPU. However, the support for TD-LTE networks and the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS on this device should explain Huawei’s choice.
The mobile phone arrives on shelves with 1GB of RAM, complemented by 8GB of internal memory. No mention of a microSD memory card slot was made, though one might be included in it.
On the back, the smartphone features an 8-megapixel camera, complemented by a 1MP front camera to enable users to make video calls while on the go.
The new device also includes the usual set of connectivity capabilities, including Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. The handset also arrives on shelves with single-SIM capabilities.
Huawei Ascend G660 was launched in a white color flavor, and is already available for purchase on the network of wireless carrier China Mobile, it seems.
The smartphone features a price tag of 1699 Yuan ($276/€206), which should make it an appealing option for many users, though some might consider it too expensive even at this cost, that’s for sure.
The main reason for that is the fact that the device still runs under the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, which means that it lacks many features and enhancements that newer OS flavors have been released with.
